What is the singular concept that differentiates Christianity from all other world religions? It’s simple… Grace! The idea that God’s favor is not earned but given and is therefore designed to be enjoyed and not maintained is one of the most radical and in many ways revolutionary concepts ever presented to humanity. As Martin Luther once wrote, “Christ is no Moses, no exactor, no giver of laws, but a giver of grace, a Savior; he is infinite mercy and goodness, freely and bountifully given to us.”

And yet, how tragic it is that many of today’s churches are substituting the Gospel of Grace with an Anti-Gospel of Legalism. Since this Anti-Gospel of Legalism heralds personal achievements over sin in place of the Gospel of Grace which preaches Jesus’ victory over sin, over the years we have seen a creeping legalism begin to establish a moral structure and a church culture that demands more laws to obey, liberties to forgo, things to be sacrificed, and works to do instead of emphasizing the simple enjoyment and freedom that comes from a personal relationship with Jesus founded upon nothing but His amazing grace. Sadly, such was the situation that prompted Paul to write to the Galatians. With this in mind, we encourage you to either watch or listen through Pastor Zach’s verse-by-verse series through Galatians titled, “Outlaw Church… A Study of Life in Grace.”
